Getting Started with Track Days

Essentials:

  • Passion for the Sport: Your enthusiasm is your best gear.
  • A Suitable Car: Your car should be well-maintained. It doesn’t have to be a high-performance sports car, but avoid using pickup trucks or SUVs as they are heavy and do not brake very well. Brakes are the most important safety feature of your car.
  • Convertibles: If you have a convertible, it must have rollover protection (either factory or aftermarket). You must fit below the top of the windshield and rollbar with your helmet on. Hardtop convertibles are           acceptable as they are.
  • Proper Helmet: An SA2015 or newer helmet is required. Motorcycle or DOT helmets are not acceptable. If you don’t have a helmet, we offer rentals.
  • Car numbers: You will need numbers on the sides of your car for identification. We offer them as an option when you register. They are made of vinyl and can be removed after the event.

Next Steps:

  1. Register for an Event: Check our event calendar and sign up. If you’re a beginner, register as Novice-Instructed and add an instructor to your registration.
  2. Tech Inspection: Before the event, complete a tech inspection of your car. You can do this yourself or take it to a trusted shop familiar with track day prep. We recommend a professional inspection. Do not wait until the last minute in case you need brake pads or anything that may not be in stock. Here is what the Tech Inspection Form looks like.
  3. Pre-Event Preparation: A week before the event, we will send you an email with final event details. You will also get a link to a video with additional information to help you get ready for your big weekend. This will include details on the track layout, flagging, location specifics and logistics, and general tips you might not know to ask about. We make it easy for you to be ready for a fun weekend.

Event check-in: This is usually the evening before. Turn in your tech form and get your driver credential packet, drop off anything you want to at the track, then get a good nights sleep and get ready for an amazing experience.
